  • Gruden’s Gruesome Comments

By far and large the biggest news story of the week, Jon Gruden’s. There was an investigation conducted that covered emails dating back to 2011 which discovered misogynistic, homophobic, and racist comments. These comments were directed particularly at NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and other people working within the league. The emails were sent to former Washington Football Team president, Bruce Allen. The racist comments were directed at former NFL Players Association leader DeMaurice Smith. The comments made about Roger Goodell were reportedly gay slurs along with saying he was “clueless” and “anti-football”. He also wrote about the hiring of females referees and made offensive memes about them. Gruden has stepped down as Raiders head coach with 6 years remaining left on his contract.

  • Wilson Worries

The heart and soul of the Seattle Seahawks Russell Wilson has been sidelined for a minimum of six weeks with a finger injury. On Thursday Night Football he sustained this injury and was removed from the game and backup QB Geno Smith took over the offence. Seattle have now fallen to 2-3 and are winless at home. Without Russell Wilson for at least six weeks, will this make it extremely difficult for the Seahawks to clinch a wildcard spot? It absolutely will. Quarterbacks are always a huge part of a team’s success but in Seattle, Wilson is a larger factor of Seattle being successful.

  • San Francisco Injury Quarterback Fiasco

Sometimes its just incredible how a team can be so lucky or unlucky with certain aspects of the game. The 49ers have not only lost Jimmy Garoppolo to injury, but they’ve also lost Trey Lance. After his first career start, Lance finished with 192 passing yards and 89 rushing yards in the loss to Arizona. Head coach, Kyle Shanahan after the match confirmed that Lance sustained a knee injury. The niners luckily next week have the bye so there maybe a chance one of the two return. The injury circus in San Francisco continues unfortunately, nevertheless.

  • Brady mvp candidate?

It’s early on but five weeks in there is already formation of MVP talk in the NFL. Some of the contenders that would be considered from this early on would be Kyler Murray, Dak Prescott, Josh Allen and maybe Justin Herbert also. But what about Tom Brady? It is not actually as far fetched as you would think. Currently Tom Brady ranks 2nd behind Patrick Mahomes in touchdowns with 15 and ranks first in yards and yards per game. The Bucs’ remaining strength of schedule is the 10th easiest in the league so games may become easier from here. He has certainly thrown his hat in for the conversation after having a 411 yard passing games and 5 touchdowns.

  • AFC Shootout

Last week saw the game of the season so far between the Browns and the Chargers. Cleveland actually got out to a 27-13 lead in the 3rd quarter and look to have had firm control. LA worked there way back into the match by getting to within a point but missed the chance to tie by missing the point after. Fortunately for the chargers they got another chance, and they took it, leading 47-42 late in the fourth to ice it. An incredibly high scoring match particularly in the 2nd half alone where the Chargers outscored the Browns 34-22 to get home. This is a huge win for the Chargers seeing as though Kansas City are currently on the ropes. The AFC West has opened up for LA.

  • Time to worry.

You would not have thought it, but the Kansas City Chiefs are currently 2-3. There offence has slightly regressed but of course that is not their biggest concern. Defensively the Chiefs are last in the competition, and they will not be able to win any games against the better teams playing this way. It has showed, and it could well show some more. The Chiefs have the 3rd hardest remaining schedule in the league. If their defensive problems aren’t erased, there best chance will be through a wildcard spot. The Bills absolutely crushed them and have exposed the Chiefs on how to beat them.

  • Ravens Resurgence

Once again, the Ravens have shown their ability to overcome deficits in big games. Previously the Ravens came from behind by double digits to beat the Chiefs. Yesterday, they came from 16 points behind early in the 4th to be able to score a touchdown with 39 seconds remaining. The colts did have the chance to ice it, but Blankenship missed a 47 yard field goal which sent it to overtime. This gave Baltimore the ball and the Colts never touched it again. The Ravens now move to 4-1 and are on top of the AFC North a game clear of the division and equal top of the AFC.
