Draft Day comments

Piece by: Trey Stanford

Aside from Super Bowl Sunday and the beginning of the play-offs, the Draft is one of the most exciting events out of the year for fans like you and me. Young talent and future hall of famers step into the grandest stage of them all to make a name for themselves and fans everywhere can only speculate as to how they can help their teams achieve greatness!

Or if you’re the Jaguars, the Bengals, or the Jets, you’ll watch helplessly as the team squanders the talent they posses and ruin good careers before they can get started. I only feel a little better about Trevor Lawrence going into Jacksonville knowing that he has fellow Clemson alumni Travis Etienne, will be joining him.

Etienne will help to take some of the first season pressure off of the rookie quarterback and given Etienne’s resume has ACC player of the year, along with several other accolades, it’ll be a good fit. Assuming they don’t release him prematurely but hey, it worked out well for Leonard Fournette! Way to go get yourself that ring, my dude!

At the time of writing this piece, My guy Elijah Moore has yet to be picked for an NFL spot in the draft. However, he SHOULD go early sometime today. Many teams would be stupid not to pick up on one of the most consistent route-runners in the SEC.

As a life-long fan of Ole Miss and the abusive relationship that comes with that territory, I am a little bias. But let’s look at how well some of his fellow alumni D.K. Metcalf and A.J. Brown are out-performing players with far more experience and you can get a good idea of how WRs from the Magnolia State are just built different. While Ole Miss WRs are consistently a solid pick, I suspect Mac Jones will go into the throw way bin of discarded Alabama QBs who have tried and failed to make it in the League.
